Do Ugly Websites Make Sales?

The debate of ugly websites vs. pretty websites has been going on for a while now. I have to say in my personal opinion, ugly websites do make sales, and they make a lot of sales. I still remember the first website I built; it was the ugliest thing you would ever want to see in your life. The background of the whole site was black, my font was 1pt., and the color of my font was white. My product image was flat, the site didn’t even have a headline, and it had a couple bullet points, the product image and a paypal button. Guess what it made sales, a lot of sales!

So yes ugly website do make sales, the key is having something that people want. Notice I didn’t say what people need. People will always take care of a want before they take care of a need. To be honest with you, I feel like the more you try to make things pretty and perfect the more money you lose. I say get the website up, launch you product and you can improve it as you go. That first website I built is in its third phase, each year I improve it and make little tweaks here and there.

I remember watching a video on youtube of some of the old internet marketing gurus, and the overall thought was the uglier the better, I don’t know if I agree with that but I do agree with getting your product out to the market as quickly as possible. The key elements that I make sure that are on every website I build are, a headline, a greeting, an introduction, bullet points with the benefits, a close and a paypal button. A white background is always the best choice; you can never go wrong with white. Make your font a cool Ariel about 3pt, always black, other colors are very hard to read, except for your headline, the most common color is read, I sometimes use blue. Include those key elements into your sites and watch the sales come on in.

Generating Traffic With Article Marketing

There are four key elements to generating traffic with article marketing; in this article I’m going to breakdown each element.

The first key element is the title of your article. The title of your article is very important. Make sure you include the keywords you are targeting in the title because your title will be apart of the URL given to your article. This alone has the unlimited potential to generate a lot of traffic for you depending on how competitive the keywords are on Google.

The second key element is your summary. Your summary is a brief description of what your article is about. The summary is created to hook the article readers to open your article and start reading. The summary doesn’t have to be long; maybe two to three sentences is plenty.

The third key element is the content of article. It needs to be 300 to 500 words of good information. Give as much detailed straight to the point information as possible. Be sure and stick to the topic at hand, don’t get lost in your article on side notes that don’t necessarily add to the content of the article.

The number four key element to generating traffic with article marketing is your bio / about the author / resource section. This element is most important, because this is where you give your readers a call to action.
